how wide is your lip that your playing surface is setting on, that might be my problem, my lip is too narrow, i usually make mine about 1/8 of a inch wide.

A hair under 1/8" is what I shoot for.

1/8 th is what i try to get also, just though my lip was a little large for the amount of goop i put on it. THANKS

I might have an idea for ya if you don't want to see goop under clear playing surfaces. Etch out 1/8" to 3/16" or whatever size you want with etchings paste. Mask off the middle so that doesn't get the frosted look, and the frost on the edge might hide your glue line.

I haven't done a clear playing surface yet, but I've thought about this exact problem. I think it would drive me crazy also.
