Move the pedistal in, and the main hollow area in the call gets larger. Make your pedistal smaller, and it can remove overall weight from the call.

Everything effects everything.

A pot call is very much a musical instrument that requires fine tuning and attention to detail to make repetitive awesomeness.

Thanks for the info. I know it's a fun experience trying to figure these things out and what does what when making changes.

Try to catalog everything that you changed every way you can think of prior to gluing your sound board and striking surface in place.

Its important to try to figure out why your change did what it did to the sound.

I try to keep tabs on everything I do ..  I have been trying to pick up a little more rasp with my glass over glass using walnut pot.. But it seems I always end up with a hollow sound other than rasp.

Funny that you say that I just so happen to have just gotten some to try.. And I posted a while back asking if you place aluminum sound boards the same as any other. Say two stacked on top of each other .. I didn't get one response

I run aluminum sound boards the same distance as all my others. Only tried on glass and slate. Sounds great on glass. I still can't get a sound I like with a 3.5" slate.

the gap distance has an effect on the pitch of the call plus you have to figure the wood with it walnut has that hollow affect on calls but I like the higher pitch calls and if I want to change I do it on the striker. if it when me I cut 4 pots all with same everything but the gaps would be different until I found what I was looking for also would play the call 50 yrds away record on your phone then listen , I play it over a week in different places you will be surprised how you can make a call play good with different strikers and your surrounding will make a call play   pm me on facebook and we can talk turkey
