Danny,

I use Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil Gun Stock finish.  Anywhere from a dozen to two dozen coats depending on what type of wood I turn the pot out of.

Danny,  Aaron did an excellent job running several finishes through the abuse of water and bug spray (normal turkey hunting conditions).  Check out the link below.  Personally, this solidified my decision for oil finishes.

CA is just "Super Glue". Pen turners also use it as a finish.
If you thin the "Tru Oil" stock finish with mineral spirits it will extend the set up time a little. I use the thinned finish on the inside of the pot as a sealer and as a final coat. It seems to level out just a little better.

finished a call today using CA, thats stuff makes a pretty good coat, i put 3 coats on it. sanding with 600 grit paper between coats, letting my lathe run a very slow rate of speed.
