do i need to make a cut or two in the pedistil that holds the sound board, on my pot calls. i made it 1 1/4 inches in diameter and about 3/16 inches thick. do i need to use a 1/4 drill to make sound travel threw here.

Most guys drill sound holes around the pedestal.  Here is a link that shows the anatomy of a call.  Also, another link which Larry explains harmonics (invaluable post).

If your using a ring pedestal, and have a vent/sound hole in the center of it, you don't need to cut the ring in two to make ( ) pedestal.  However, if you donot have a sound hole, you will need to cut the ring.  Otherwise, when you glue on the soundboard, you will create a sealed dead space, and your call will sound dead.
