Antelope call Question...
« on: April 24, 2016, 07:01:06 PM »
Alright guys, I had a guy contact me about getting an antelope call made for his upcoming hunt.  I have never personally seen an antelope call, but I found out that they are made (after a quick google search).  They seem to be something similar to a crow call....can anyone point me in the right direction?
I know that these are not very popular, but I would like to help this guy out if I can.
God Bless, Pastor Dan

Only call I have ever heard of an antelope making is a fear/distress call.

Other than this distress 'bark', I don't know that antelope are very vocal. They are extremely visual.

Vince, if you google it you can see a few videos of guys using them during hunts.  I think his hope behind this call is to stop an antelope if it is trotting away, kindve like a single click for a turkey to stick his head up kindve a deal.
He knows it may not be the most useful call, but nevertheless he is still wants it in his vest when he goes on this trip.
Ive only hunted antelope one time, and I never got closer than 225 yards from one (alive).  So as far as their vocals, I have no idea

Sounds exactly like a lightly blown crow call. Light, short burst of air.

Not sure this will help Dan, or if you even want to this way, but back when I started making calls, I amassed a huge collection of commercial calls.   I used them to guide me in getting the sound I wanted.  Some of them got "reverse engineered" or, taken apart to see what made them work if you know what I mean.

It might be worth your time and money to buy a commercial call and see how it works and what is in it.   You might end up being the antelope call king of the world

In reality though, I can't remember but one or two questions on these calls over the years the board has been running.   You might want to go try a search on Custom Calls On Line.   They have been around longer than us, and you never know.

Vince, that's what I thought too.
Thanks Al, I might have to give that a shot.  I was hoping you would show up on this thread!
