Thanks for posting it Brian. I continue to tweak the method a bit but it all comes out the same in the end. The holder for turning the stopper, I do not use now. I turned between centers for a while and now use a 4 jaw chuck to hold the exhaust end and a live center to turn the stopper.
You can see this set up was made from scraps and the jig was the most costly but had help on it from a friend so did ok on it also.
Fred is correct you do not have to have a milling machine to make these calls. Maybe this will perk some more up in learning to make them.
