So, I do my craziest thinking when I am 3/4 asleep. When something hits me in this state, I have to get up and test the theory. So, here I am at 4am.
I have ALWAYS glued a striking surface in by running a bead along the little bitty lip of the call with the fat head of a GOOP tube. Or, using the GOOP tip, and making a mess.
It has never EVER occured to me until just now, if I run a bead on the bottom of the surface, rather than on the edge of the call, that I could get a really clean look on the outside because 100 percent of the glue is on the bottom of the surface, where it goes.
Well, this method is insanely easy and leaves a beautiful finished product.
Still not the answer for a glass surface, I am sure, but man does it work well for ceramic and slate. Set one edge down in the ledge, rock it down, and slightly twist into place.
Maybe I was the only one that was making this hard. Seldom are we around each other to see the 'simple steps'.
