#2MT adapter drill sleeve
« on: February 13, 2016, 01:29:15 AM »
I'm new to the call making game and this forum has progressed my knowledge by years I just want to thank you all for all the priceless info I've received!! I just have one quick question I've been slowly buying everything to turn a call and I've almost got everything bought I'm just wondering if it would be better to buy a drill chuck for the lathe or is it cheaper and easier to just buy a 5/8 #2MT drill bit but how would I use a 1/4 bit I can't seem to find one with a 2mt shank. I found a #2MT adapter drill sleeve if that will work for a 1/4 inch bit but I can't seem to find any info about how to use it or how well the adapter works? It would benefit me to have something like this instead of a drill press because I'm limited on space.  I've searched for two days to find something on the subject I apologize if this has already been addressed.

I would definitely go with the drill chuck. That way you won't be stuck with only one size bit. I think you can find them on PSI or Amazon for $30 bucks or less.

X2 on the drill chuck. I use this one. It works just fine. Be sure to look for a 20% off coupon.

I suggest you get one with 5/8 or even 3/4 capacity... for the little added cost, youll find the extra size will come in quite handy.

You can use any of these in your 1/2 inch drill chuck.

Look at the bottom of the page under "silver and deming".
