Just want to make sure I'm thinking right

So I'm making a duck call out of antler and old barn wood. The barrel is going to be antler and it was just slightly too curved to do a standard 5/8 bore so I bumped it down to a 1/2 bore. So for me to do my insert is that going to mean I'll need to bump the exhaust bore up to 3/8 for it to sound like a duck?

You shouldn't, I don't think it will make a lot of difference, it will just be a little softer call.
