CCAA December featured call of the month - Billy Hays
« on: December 03, 2015, 04:58:52 PM »

If you get the chance to meet Billy Hays, you'll understand why you didn't want to miss the opportunity to talk with him. Billy is an award winning callmaker, but he does a lot of behind the scenes work to help out the CCAA in countless ways. Billy still is active and makes a few calls a year, especially some fancy checkered and carved calls. If you didn't know, Billy is the original maker of the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest working duck call.

Billy's call of the month is a carved and checkered spalted persimmon barrel and a basket weave carved African Blackwood insert.

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Thanks for posting these Brian.  Out of curiosity how long is the longest working duck call?
