Carved Pear wood...
« on: November 09, 2015, 02:12:31 PM »
Here's a look at a Pear wood squirrel call I turned and carved this weekend. I was working from a photo of a squirrel I called in last week.   This is the rough carving.

Here's the finished product.

I don't mind saying, Pear wood makes a dang fine call...

Thanks for looking!

Wow - that's nice. Great job on the paint. The eyes always make a carving.  Ever tried glass eyes like the decoy carvers do?

When I was carving decoys I would use glass eyes.  Or a drop of epoxy.   But on game calls I rely on a smooth carving, and paint.
Thanks for the kind words fellas!

Very nice indeed, looking at that Squirrel at this moment reminds me of hunting and hanging out with my Dad in the mid 1970's.
