Nice customer furnished wood
« on: October 14, 2015, 06:28:46 PM »
Sometimes the customer has a special piece of wood he wants to have a call made from. Here is a call made from a customers wood.

This piece was a challenge. The inside of the burl was kind of soft so it got a stabilizing treatment after drilling the hole. It had the usual burl flaws and checks that had to be filled/repaired but the result certainly was worth the effort!  Love to work with beautiful wood.
Insert is sleeved with cocobolo and the wedge is bighorn sheep horn.

Nice call Fred''

Don't you just hate to turn a piece of wood like that not knowing if it will come apart or not, but as you said the effort was worth it.
