Sorry for not replying sooner but haven't had much time lately. It's no secret, I must share because if not for this site and people sharing I couldn't have gotten as far as I have! I use a 3" hole saw on a 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" X 1/4" thick piece of walnut to cut the inside of the lamenting wood. Make sure you sand the side of the walnut that goes against the cherry to make a good fit. I then take the cherry blank and used a parting tool to cut a 1/4" wide shoulder that the ID of the walnut would fit. Glued it up with tightbond 2, clamp for a hour, allowed to dry 24 hours, then turn to your desired shape. When things slow down some I'll try and put together a tutorial. I hope this helps.
