Goose flute glue-a-thon....
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:24:44 PM »
Hi gang!
Time for the 2015 goose flute glue-a-thon...  :punk:

I have finally hit the confidence level with my goose flutes so it's time to break out the good wood and make up some exhibition grade calls.  I have been saving this wood for something special so a glue-a-thon is order... :hammer:

And this picture is for Ron Gould.. I still have not cleaned my bench...     LOL!

All The Best!
Doug

I see your having fun matching up contrasting blocks of wood, cutting and gluing them up.  I can see Doug that you love doing this.  Same here.

Doug, I've had one of your flutes for quite some time. I thought your level of confidence was way up when I received it.  That is a tall order you've got going on there. I am certain you will hit a "home run' with these glue-up's as well.

Awesome stuff!

Looks like fun Doug. On the first picture on the top 2 blanks there are (2) 3s together. Is there going to be inserts there also or did you forget something?

Can't wait to see the final product!

Barry, the numbers are from when I cut the individual blocks of each wood.  For example, I start with the mouthpiece (1) then the next piece(2) and a (3) on the other end of the same piece, so I know which way I am lining them up, and on down the line.  It's a little complicated when I start arranging them, but what I am doing is trying to keep each kind of wood in a numbered sequence so all the grain and patterns line up in order.  Yes, I have messed up a few in the past, and complete attention to detail is required as I am gluing.  I do a lot of dry test fits along the way.  Hope that helps you all understand the process a little better...
