Same only different *NOW WITH MORE CRYING*
« on: March 05, 2015, 01:13:44 PM »
Stabilized, dyed, mulberry burl and ivory acrylic, pinned aluminum band.
really liking the satin velvit oil finish on stabilized woods.
Been a while since I've posted anything pretty.

The acrylic meets the wood well. Great job

May I ask the source of the broken part?

Went to pick it up off the bench, fumbled it and it landed on the concrete floor (just the insert).  I didn't just drop, it was spinning from me trying to catch it.  I almost had it all the way down.

The way that it broke makes me think I need to move my o ring groove a little further away from the cork notch.

It was good practice!
I figure if you make calls long enough you will drop one.

Its going to be fine!  I bought some glue awhile back that's specifically made to "bond" acrylic.
Going to be good as new!

(not really, but I can test the glue!)

That sucks! I hope the glue holds, what is it? Maybe you shouldn't drop them.  :hysterical:

I feel your pain brother!

I did a full tilt boogie open water call for a guy a few years back with Snakewood over Golden Oak acrylic and had the same thing happen to me. I thought the wife was going to hide all my extension cords just to make sure I didn't hang myself with one..... :stickman1:

Nothing makes you feel worse than breaking a finished insert.....
