The "LUCKY 13" NWTF comp Call......PIC HEAVY!
« on: February 11, 2015, 08:40:54 PM »
NWTF (2 dimensional call)

Introducing the most thought out & difficult call to ever come out of my shop......."The Lucky 13".....From concept & design, to execution and paint, I have almost 28 hours in the actual build. This is one of those calls you build once in a life time........Designed after the actual Heddon Lucky 13 fishing lure, this is a working mallard duck call with the actual Heddon Lucky 13 hardware.....

I have never air brushed anything in my life, and with the direction of my buddy Mike Morris; I couldn't be happier with the final product. After months and months of design I hope the judges like my outside of the box thinking......Alan

That is awesome!  You should have caught a bass on it and included the catch photo with the entry!

That is awesome. Really looks good. I thought I was the only only one crazy enough to make a fishing lure duck call. Good to see I'm not alone :) I bet it won't be your last. Very nice!!

You are certainly not alone. However I think It would be crazier for me to attempt another one. I finished the first paint job and hit it with some automotive semi gloss that turned the entire call bright white.    not sure why?!? There goes 4.5 hours of painting. So I sand her down and do it all over again. The second paint job only took 4 hours. I used a high gloss clear and it worked out. I am no airbrush artist, but I had a blast painting and building this call. The mouth was the most difficult part of the call and getting the insert and barrel to flow together was a chore. Thanks again for the kind words, Alan
