Closed Reeds
« on: February 09, 2015, 08:15:17 PM »
Here is two closed reed predator calls I made. One is Walnut and one is Mahogany.  We have taken them hunting a few times. My dad told me that he needs something to bite onto by chewing the crap out of his. I guess I'm going to have to make one that he can hold in his mouth. LOL

Finished with Velvit oil.
Thanks for lookin'!
David

Nice!  Any success calling the coyotes?  I've made calls with a delrin mouth peice.  I will look for a photo.

These are not the exact calls I was thinking of but similar.  I added some shape to these mouth peices.

Thanks Rick! We have called one in so far. My dad got him to come in though. He was running towards my dad and went by to quick for me to shoot. I was expecting him to go up the other side of the hill be instead he went east into the trees. Don't know why I guess he smelled us. I was thinking having a dovetail shape on the mouth that you could grab with your teeth. Those calls are nice!

Exactly.  I make a small open reed call with the same concept.

Look close at the 3 on top.  I make them this way so you can pinch them between you lips and not spit them out.  Hands free squealing :)
