Chess Set
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:27:50 AM »
Made this for a Christmas gift, it was finally opened thus I am now "allowed" to share. Board is Wenge and Curly Maple. Pieces are Bubinga and Boxwood...

My wife set the "Black" King up in the wrong location... not to worry, no games were played incorrectly in the making of the set.

Knight roughed out, prior to final shaping and sanding:

Dang man!  That is over the top!  Who was the lucky recipient to you?  Relative/friend/customer?

Will you readily do it again?

Vince, it was commissioned by my brother-in-law's girlfriend for him. He seemed quite pleased in the video (got it in MD, I live in NC). I would gladly do another board for the right amount of monetary reward... the pieces would increase the necessary monetary gain exponentially. It was not a pleasant affair.

Hahaha!  Sounds like quite the adventure!  I bet that will become a family heirloom. I can't imagine how many hours you have in the whole project.
