First worthless call cast myself
« on: January 25, 2015, 09:31:40 PM »
Since getting into all making a few months ago, really taken an interest in stabilizing and casting myself. Well here is the first call finished. It was stabilized in green dye and then cast. I am still not set on a shape I love for my duck calls yet and this one happened due to a bad catch haha but I don't mind it. I'll find a shape I like eventually. The pictures don't do this justice as the wood in this call is a great piece of maple burl with great figure!

Haha id have to look but by the time you buy the vacuum chamber and pump then the resin you are a good chunk in already. Then the pressure pot and alumilite it can get pricey but sell a few calls and it's paid for I guess lol that's how I look at it!  I enjoy it though more thn anything it's really cool to see what it looks like when it's turned down!  Never know what your going to get!  I am working on a couple goose calls right now for a Super Bowl draw on my fb page I just started!  I'll post them sometime this week when I find time to finish them!  Haha and yea I gues shouldn't call it a worthless call lol!  More of A call made from worthless wood blanks haha

Oh man that is cool! You made the material and turned the call! That's the ultimate in my book.
Congrats, and again, so cool!
