What to bring, etc.
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:02:26 PM »
I need at least two more lathes.  John, Vince?  Three wouldn't hurt.

For those that haven't been here before, here's generally what you need to bring:
-Your turning tools, files, jigs, calipers, etc.
-Any chucks, mandrels or special tooling that you like to use
-Sandpaper for your own use
-Safety glasses or face shield
-Dust mask if you use one
-Wood to turn
-An appetite.  No diets allowed.

Here's what I'd suggest bringing...Optional:
-Wood to swap/share.  I have a bandsaw and can cut up the stuff worth cutting up.
-Call(s) to swap/give/demo
-Any other tools or items that you think would be of interest to the group

You'd be wise to pack it all in a Rubbermaid tote because you'll be parking on the street and walking the stuff down to my basement.  Totes make that a manageable task.

I will bring my lathe. I did not feel right running others' last year as hard as I run mine. :)

Aaron! If I make it I can bring my Jet mini, as long as you guys are willing to deal with the tailstock being messed up. The lockdown for it has a little mechanism under the lathe and one of the bolts keeps coming loose, so you have to tighten it all the time. Maybe you could use it as a backup lathe?

Sounds like you need a new lock nut.

David it wouldn't hurt to bring it but I don't think we absolutely need it.  As long as we have three lathes, which we will, we should be good.

I'll be bringing my lathe and the usual kit, mandrels, drills, etc.  I will forget something important but I will probably be the only one that misses it.
