Tonechannel Cutter
« on: December 16, 2014, 08:59:13 PM »
Another one of the keyway cutters has come up for sale on eBay.  Looks the same make the one that was sold a while back.    http://www.ebay.com/itm/391002476681?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

If someone is a tinkerer it will prove to be an investment in square channel tonechannels.  You will have to set up a motor, get your cutters and then a very short learning curve to have a unique tool.  For the open reed predator calls, this beats using the router for square channels.

I was thinking about it when it was about 75.00 then it took the jump to 350.00 . I wasn't expecting that you can buy a mini mill with a motor for that much.

You will have to literally stumble on one to get it for $75, I stumbled on one but I paid considerably more for it.  From some other sales I have seen some of the machinists will pay over a $175.   I have already turned down one offer of a $125 from a local a machinist.  I don't need mine, I just wanted to see if I could make it do what I wanted to do.  After I set it up and got it working, I was happy, I proved to myself it would work.  Now I am back to using my own mini mill set up using my wood lathe as a horizontal mill.
