Soak the whole thing in PB Blaster or WD40 or the like overnight.

I would get 2 cheater bars about 2 foot long.  I picked up a used lathe, a junker that I wanted the face plate off it.  I drilled a piece of angle iron and bolted it to the face plate, then latched on the spindle with a 24" pipe wrench.  Got it all ready and gave the angle iron one good whack with a mallet, she came loose.  If you give it a good whack, be careful, you can bend your spindle shaft.

Question. Is the nut that works the collet stuck or is the chuck stuck to the lathe spindle?  Or both?  What brand of lathe?

For next time:  I have used the rubber strap wrenches and they work great.

A little grease on both the internal and external threads will help keep it from happening again. Just a little bit of grease is all that is needed.  The "nut" should only have to be hand tight to close the collet.

FYI  I called PSI last week to see if parts were available for their collet chuck.  I wanted another chuck body.

The answer was " they come in a box and no extra parts are available" so if you break one you own all the pieces.
