I have never seen a moose call with guts.
Pass on the tradition. A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

You might want to look at a commercial product (like Buck Expert's moose call for one) and try to duplicate it for your own use?

I have been playing around with a moose friction call. But it's design hasn't been dialed in yet.

It's just not as pretty as we nicely done (turned or otherwise) wooden call though!

One of the first calls i ever made was a coffee can call. That was close to 35 years ago. It worked good but i had the best luck using my voice and hands.
Good luck finding or making guts.

Seeing as I'm running out of arguments to support trying new things...a picture is always worth a thousands words. It's always fun to beta-test your new calls in the wild too (this was done after we had bagged our moose for this season, I was only "armed" with a camera at this point). No moose came within range while I was calling. But I left 10 minutes before the end of the hunting day (30 min after sundown) and I saw a lady moose coming in the direction where my blind was...maybe 50 ft away from the trail. Took the picture, but it was underexposed (damn cheap disposable cameras!)

Cheers!
