2015 NC Turn-a-Thon Event
« on: October 01, 2014, 08:48:02 AM »
Wanted to get this on the radar screen. We started the 2014 TAT thread last year around this time so I thought it appropriate.  There was mention at last years event that Joe may host again; this has yet to be determined.  For those that attended, I beleive we had a pretty good time and we hope to expand on that this year.  For planning purposes, if you plan to attend or are thinking that you may attend, please let us know.  Early planning will only increase the opportunities and make the event more enjoyable.  Behind the scenes, I'm sure Joe, John, and myself will begin the initial phase of details and planning. If you attended last years event and have ideas to make improvements, by all means, table those thoughts and let us know what's on your mind.

We hope to have an increased turn out so if you are interested, please let us know.

From last years event, here are some thoughts to ponder.

1) We had a blast and learned from one another.
2) Comraderie and respect abounded.
3) Generous vendors from this site graciously donated some extremely nice "goodies".
4) We ate pretty well and BS'd even better!
5)  Exchange of some real nice calls

On a personal note, here is is my favorite take away from last years event.  Joe [Short] wanted desperately to learn to make a Reelfoot Duck Call. Henry [Hawthorne] put on an awesome demonstration and Joe was an immediate student!  Today, Joe is making awesome Reelfoot Duck Calls ( I can attest; I have one ) due largely in part to the event.

Hope to see last years attendees and a bunch of newcomers!

Jeff

I'm on board and will gladly host again if there are no objections. The geographical location seemed to work well for the crowd we had this year and I certainly have the space.

I'm in the middle of a job search, so no guarantees that I'll still be in the "neighborhood", but if I am I will be there.  Thanks, Joe, for volunteering to host again - you have a great spot for it!

Hey, John... do you want me to book you a reservation at that hotel  :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:  I think I may opt to sleep in my truck instead of staying there again  :whistling:

I have sent up a prayer that we will experience similar weather that we had last year!  I'm already to getting excited about this years event. I'll take care of the cooking for the evening meal. Thinking about smoking whole chickens this year.

Joe, if you require any assistance this year prior to our date, I'll be more than happy to head down that way and help you out.

No longer than we stayed there, the truck would have been just fine.  :hysterical: The hotel wasn't horrible........ or did I just block it out?

In talks with Joe, he is graciously offereing to host the NCTAT once again. If there are no objections or if someone has a better solution, let's plan on Joes place again.  The geographic location, Buelaville, NC. is a good mid-point for folks to the north/south that may want to attend.  I beleive Joe will be posting up an attendance roster shortly.  For those that have mentioned attending, does mid to late February work again this year?
