First acrylic double reed
« on: September 13, 2014, 09:03:22 PM »
Got off work early on Friday, early enough to run by the wood hobby store. I got a few pieces of cocob but I also picked up this piece of acrylic. It's not cast but cut great. I used my last piece of cast clear because I simply couldn't wait.

The evening started off very innocent. I was only going out to the shop to cut it in half. Then I decided to drill the hole in it. Well if the hole is in it and the mandrel is right there, why not turn it. Well since it's turned, why not finish it... well I couldn't just leave that barrel with no insert...

So cutting it in half turned into about 4 and a half, 5 hours.

Anyways, I got the reeds tuned early this afternoon. I love it. It could be the next one on my lanyard for sure.
