That is a beautiful call Joe.  Love the detailed work.  Art meets function!

Nice one Joe!!

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Very nicely done.  A true piece of art.

Really nice!  Do you do the carving with a high speed motor or with knives?

I use both.  There are some things you just can't (at least I can't) do with one or the other alone. Stuff like relieving the background, blocking out the bird etc. I use the high speed. For detail work I make little chisels and knives out of cheap "needle files" and hone them on a leather wheel. High speed for me on really tiny detailed stuff just means I can screw it up, only faster :) so I use "knives".

Thanks. I have a few knives and chisels around but nothing small enough to tackle a call with.
I have a stack of used up needle files.  Time to get to work.

Thanks for posting pictures of your work, I keep finding myself looking at the Reelfoot section more and more.  I know nothing about making one or making one run well, but the more I look at them the more I like them.
