Something a little different for me
« on: April 05, 2014, 05:24:27 PM »
Pulled out this walnut a couple weeks ago and just felt like turning something different than my usual shape.  This call is made from some of Onur's beautiful turkish walnut stash (@turkishwalnut), and the design is HEAVILY influenced by Rip Fanning's calls, which I've always liked.  I think this is one of my favorites, even though simple.  It is less highly finished than most, to give it a slightly aged look.  Tung oil finish, lightly buffed.

Thanks, guys!

Andre, the wood comes from www.turkishwalnut.net.  Onur (the owner) specializes in walnut gun stock wood, and has some amazing pieces on his website.  It is worth your time just to see his stock.  He started selling cutoffs for turning stock, and has found a big market - so his prices sometimes match.  He puts deals on woodbarter from time to time.  His stuff is grade AAA+, and dry as a bone.

Thanks for the link Henry. He has some very nice stuff. There are a lot of different price ranges for folks interested in trying out the wood too. That's good of him.

Finally! A Reelfoot with enough lanyard grooves to actually distribute and secure that massive awesomeness!
Great looking call Henry, as always. That Walnut is absolutely gorgeous and the fit/finish are flawless.

My dear friend Henry!!! Thank you very much for sharing this great unique work here from my Turkish walnut woods.

I have still many beautiful nice figured Turkish walnut turning squares in my inventory. If anyone would like to get any walnut wood pieces from me i can help gladly.

Kind regards
Onur
