Hey guys, a guy contacted me and told me he was trying to get rid of a lathe and it's variable speed I know it's a craftsman but don't know much past that. Looking for som guidance on what would be a good offer for it. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Read the reviews about the model number.  Craftsman sold a lathe made by I believe Palmgren that was a real piece of junk, if it is that one, don't walk a way, run away.

Space user upper in my opinion.  Stay away from the full size lathes if you are going to work on smaller objects.  I've lost several hundred dollars buying big lathes that I will just never use, and whole saled them to get them out of my shop.

There used to a lady on the forum that went by screen name of I think JustAnnie, I think she had that lathe and had problems with it.  If you can search back and check old threads you might find some information on it.  I would start with searching for "Palmgren" they are the company that made it for Sears.  That should get you some his dating back about 4 or 5 years.

I haven't seen her on any of the callmaking forums for quiet awhile, I remember she moved from Mississippi to I believe Oregon, posted for awhile and then stopped posting.

On edit.
Well I found JustAnnies old posts, she did had a lathe that looked like that but it was made by Palmgren and but not with the Craftsman label.  I could not find where she had problems.

On the last edit read this thread http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?74280-Craftsman-15-quot-Lathe-on-order

Thanks again I think I'll stay away from it. I just saw where it was variable speed and figured it was worth a look.
