6 sides this time
« on: July 30, 2014, 09:51:09 AM »
Here is another of my Quam style calls.  Six sides this time. Marble wood and faux ivory with a stabilized maple insert and a sheep horn wedge. If you look carefully you can just see the fluting on the sides of the call.  enjoy

Thanks for the positive comments guys!  One of my favorites also Henry.  This one really talks  "duck" and I can make them from 1.5 X 1.5 Arkansas size blanks.

I really like making the 6 sided calls, in my opinion they look better that the 8 sided calls.  But my favorite is my 3 or 4 sided calls with lathe turned ends.

Would love to see a picture of those Marvin.  How do you handle the sharp edges on the equal triangle one?

I am in New Mexico on my laptop, no pics of these on it.  I round off the edges with sandpaper to get rid of the sharp edges.  Kind of like carving, remove a little on all corners until I have what I want.
