For my son's first birthday....
« on: May 17, 2014, 11:40:04 PM »
Just finished this truck, my first toy, for my son's upcoming first birthday. I built his crib from Hard Maple, so I decided to make a tradition of it and make him something each year from Maple... though there are technically ten woods in this truck, most of it is indeed Hard Maple.

If you can name all ten of the woods I used, in one guess, I'll make you one!

That is awesome, Joe.  Great work and a long-term keeper for your son.  Plus worthy of a few brownie points with mama, I'm sure.

Hedge, walnut, hard maple, I think ABW as the wheels but it may be walnut with the steelwool/vinegar concoction, I'm guessing that theres a couple taillights also so those would probably be made of Bloodwood. And then 5 other woods!!!!!!!!  :hysterical:
Did I win?!?!?!?!

Close on the ones you guessed but you didn't get ten!
Hedge, Hard (and tires are black dyed ) AND Soft Maple, Butternut, Walnut, Red Oak, Cedar, Redheart (in lieu of Bloodwood), Katalox, Poplar, Bamboo.
Appears to be eleven but bamboo is not technically wood.
