Elmer's wood bond glue works really well just make sure the 2 pieces are completely flat

If you are talking end to end, you do not want to butt them together. The joint will fail. If you want to turn one down and insert it in the other, that can be done and glued in several different types of configurations of length. From a basic two peice of a dowel going into a head, or what ever other combo you can imagine.

I have also done what was stated above, so a striker could be played half and half by spinning it 180 degrees.

If doing end for end drill a hole in one piece and turn a tennon in the other. Glue and clamp. Or drill both pieces and glue in a dowel and clamp. Or glue and clamp several pieces up flat to flat , rip to a blank and turn, you will get a cross cut blank this way.

Yep, turn a tenon. I would not do the dowel. The chances of lining everything up just right is going to be slim.

And reproducing a sound you like that you come across is going to be tougher when you use a dowel too. Cause now you have three woods. Strikers are VERY picky when you have a picky ear/picky customer.

Just drill a 5/16" hole in the handle, and make the striker 5/16" to fit inside...

Tenon sets are certainly going to be hard to come by,probably right up there with a good board stretcher.Lucky for us call makers we can turn our own with a skew chisel on the lathe.

The block on the left has a 1/2" tenon turned on it, the block on the right has a 1/2 inch hole drilled in it. put the tenon in the hole and glue and clamp together. You can drill a 5/16 inch hole in the end and turn the glued up blank between centers. Glue a 5/16 striker dowel in the hole and now you have a striker made from scraps.
