Finishing Wood Acrylic Combo Blanks
« on: April 27, 2014, 08:33:05 AM »
I have a buddy that makes custom ice fishing rods.  He is using one of the acrylic/wood combo blanks for the handle/seat.  How have you guys finished these blanks?

I was thinking he could just CA the wood parts of the blank, once he got them turned down.  Build it up a bit and then wet sand down to meet up with the acrylic part of the blank.  Then plastic polish or buff to shine it up.

Let me know if I am going in the right direction here with this advice for him.  I have never worked these blanks before and want to help him out.

Thanks

You're exactly right.
