Ambrosia Maple Kitchen Knife
« on: April 11, 2014, 07:15:02 PM »
Here's a handle I'm making for a kitchen knife. The photo shows the progression from a piece I sliced off a chunk of firewood to a handle blank to a handle
ready for a poly finish. The poly should really pop the colors. The blade is an old used sawzall 9".

The second photo is the finished knife with 3 coats of 2/3 poly 1/3 mineral spirits and 2 final coats of straight poly. The wood is crosscut so it absorbed a good amount.

At the top of the third photo is the blade I started with.

The last photo shows two smaller knives made from one sawzall blade. Both have Maple branch handles.

Those are interesting Kevin.  The long one looks like it would make a dandy filet knife for trout.
