Inhale/exhale deer grunt call
« on: December 20, 2013, 10:26:28 AM »
I had someone ask me if I could make an inhale/exhale deer grunt.  I thought about it and said maybe.  Here is a rough try.

Works OK. Which is better than I thought if would be.  Just not enough volume.  I know this is limited due to pressures, but with all the smarts on this site I thought someone could help me to perfect this idea.  I welcome any questions or suggestions.

I wonder what would happen if you drilled a hole in the center peice to allow the back pressure and call sound a place to exit.

I thought about that also, but was afraid that the inhale part would be affected.  It's not the easiest thing to inhale as it is.

Instead of inhaling, I would just switch the call around and 'blow' into the 'exhaust' end which doubles as the 'inhale'. because I could see inhaling a crap ton of dust which wouldn't be fun. plus, that way the sound is going OUT of the call, and not being sucked IN to your mouth. Just my ideas though. Cool project here

Good point Marshall, but I think my customers idea is so that you can do it quickly to imitate a buck chasing a doe.  I'm like you I would probably flip it, but there again it's a little slower and requires more movement.

hmmm... I mean, the customer's always most important here. an inhaling call is gonna be hard to make loud no matter what you do I guess. there's no way to inhale and have the sound travel outside.
