Santa says turn them into the barrel, not the bellow, so the user won't crush the reed while striking the bellow.
This way, the sound comes when the bellow is filling with air, not when it is being compressed.
You can always set the reed inside the barrel so it can't be hit though I suppose. I have not done it this way, because I wonder how much less air then goes across the reed.
The reed model # is LVDR-005 (Stainless over mylar)
LVDR-002 (double stainless) will also work, but I think 005's are easier to tune correctly.
