A wedge is usually a part of a Reelfoot call. Are you trying to make Reelfoot style calls?

I make the wedge as a part of making the insert for a Reelfoot.  After making drilling and cutting the tone board I use super glue to attach a wedge blank to the tone board, place the tone board back in the lathe and turn the wedge blank to a wedge shape to match the taper of the insert. For a complete set of instructions on how to make a Reelfoot insert, including the wedge, just read the Reelfoot tutorials above.  There are several different ways to make a Reelfoot insert and several are presented.  An X,Y table and vise on a drill press can substitute for a milling machine.

After you read the tutorials be sure to ask any additional questions you have. Someone here can answer just about any question you may have.
