New to call making
« on: June 09, 2013, 11:49:46 PM »
Hey im 17 and i thought is would be fun to make some elk calls on the lathe, i used cheap predator calling kits from a wood working store. I was wondering if there is any easy way to choose which tone boards work best, I looked into buying some higher quality better elk kits but it just confused me, if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great! Thanks.

Welcome.  I can't say I know anything about calling elk but, I would assume like other callers, it is more rewarding and fun to make your own tone boards.  The nice thing is there are several tutorials on here about making tone boards of all kinds of calls.  You can apply those to making any tone board and make your adjustments.
In life or anything worth partaking, if you have stopped trying to improve you have quit.
