Wow - cool to see this section.
« on: May 25, 2013, 11:52:21 AM »
I know its a topic that applies more to the little guys making the move to grow or the bigger guys...  But something that I think that should not be as taboo as it appears to be to some.

CNC has a whole different approach than hand making, and design features really can come into play, which affects setup, tools, surface finish, cost, time, etc...  So as much as it seems like its easy and cheating... there is a lot more to it than just pushing a button and magically having a call.

I'll be following this section closely just to listen to you guys discuss things even though I don't have access to any of the equipment.

Id say there is a lot that is applicable whether you have the equipment, or are having someone do it for you.  Shapes, features and dimensions can make something easy or miserable... which usually has some sort of affect on cost.

Ill try and work up a list of "things to think about" for those thinking about having some parts run on a CNC.  If I get time will try and get pictures and diagrams to help visualize it if I can.

Glad to see you on board Wade. I have a feeling you'll be a valuable asset for answering our mind numbing cnc questions.

This is the Calling N Collecting area right? :up1:  :devil2:
