Oh, those look nice. I got to turn some up. I'm late to, because today was opening of crow season here. Darn, I should have had the calls done and posted on my local forum before this.

Gene, sweet looking calls!  I assume you get your inserts from Al?  I was wondering, do you make a taper fit of do you use the O-ring method?  I noticed in your pictures that the insert does not go all the way into the barrel. Is that by design?  If so, do you find the length of your fit and length of your barerl make a sound difference?  I'm looking for more volume on my crow calls and was just asking to maybe go another direction?

Again, sweet looking calls!

Mutt. on the crow calls I use the taper fit and have found out that if I put the reed assembly all the way into the barrel it limits what I can do with changing pitches. If it is all the way in the pitch is high and biting on the reed doesn't do much to change it but if it is not all the way in you get a raspy or courser sound and then by biting down some it changes to high pitched.
I use the same reeds that Al has in his store.

Blacky,  appreciate you sharing that.  I may give it a try to see and hear the difference for myself.
