Spalted Birch with Ziricote insert
« on: May 04, 2013, 09:05:42 PM »
Just finished up today.  Pictured with a couple barrels awaiting inserts (a nasty piece of desert ironwood and a curly piece of walnut).

Man those are sweet! The DIW is really wicked looking...haven't had a chance to make anything with that yet but looking forward to it! Well done.

 wow those are slick I agree with Mac that DIW is wicked looking. The spalt lines in the birch compliment your call shape real well  I like that sometimes you have them just all over the place but man those just came out great.

The calls look great.  Nice shape, they flow well.   Your finish looks good as well.

Thanks, guys, appreciate the feedback.  Been trying to decide on the right insert for the ironwood, finally settled on a slightly funky, curly piece of brazilian rosewood that's been in the box for a long time.  Got it about halfway done before getting interrupted today... maybe I'll find some time before the weekend to finish it up and post some pics.  I'm thinking that one might stay on my lanyard.

Beautiful calls Henry. Ironwood is one of my favorite woods also.

Those are spectacular.  Desert ironwood is definitely my favorite wood to turn, even though it smells like bad breath.
