my first reelfoot
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:03:46 PM »
Sorry for the poor pics, but couldn't wait for better light tomorrow.  This is made from a unique piece of indian rosewood that has an unusual mix of heartwood and sapwood and a tiny bit of spalting.  I was sent this wood along with several other pieces in exchange for a call.  It is 95% done... the wedge is a temp one, getting ready to make the real thing.  FDR - thanks for all your help and the starter reeds.  My bronze arrived last week...so I may experiment with my own on the next call, but this one sounds too good with yours to monkey around.

That is a real nice call Henry!  Love the wood selection.  Glad you like the sound.

Thanks, Andre... but I think it is the wood rather than my work that makes it look good!  Check out the tutorials... Fred, Benjamin and Ben did a great job with them and made it fairly easy.  And I do love the sound of a metal reed call!  I'm not sure I'm going to go back to Ark-style.
