Yet another Finish question
« on: April 08, 2013, 10:06:59 PM »
So here is my recent question:

after you soak, dry and wipe off your call,  Do you just let it air dry or are you guys using a box or something with heat or a fan on it?

I read several methods (air, hair dryer, toaster oven), seems the preferred method it letting it sit in the sun.

On a side note: my dad use to make fiddles (still have the twitch from calling them violins and getting smacked!), he made a curing box for his finishes.  It was effectively a tanning bed in a box with a couple small fans to circulate the air.  I know the outcome of the sound was night and day. Not sure what he was finishing with, but if had a few uv lights around, might be on to something.

The reason i ask is that my finish feels dry and looks good, it still has a strong smell of oil over a week later and i am not sure what to do to completely cure the oil.
