That's a fine looking caller there! One of the old guys I hunted with when I first started out on geese used a tube call. I was always amazed at how effective it was on these geese up here!

That is sweeeeet!  Until a couple weeks ago I had never heard of a tube call for geese.  How do they sound, run etc.  Might be interested in trying one.

I had not heard of a tube call until a couple of months ago. A good friend talked me into building him one. I have heard some sound files and I am learning. I still have a long way to go though.  It is way different than turning a short reed. I do like the process of figuring out how am I going to do this. I also tried teak oil on this one, I really like it. Thank you all for the positive comments and Mark at dbroswoods for the wood.

Back in the 70's a Guy by the name of Mike Mac Lamore either invented the tube goose or made it poplar. He sold out to Knight and Hale on it and in a very early VHS tape Mike is hunting with the Hale Boys. I have a friend that use to hunt in Canada back in the 70's and he had the pleasure of hunting with Mike and he brought back a few tubes and he was able to teach me how to use it. I used it for quite sometime but it's a low volume call when used for geese so on a windy day it becomes muffled. I had the pleasure of meeting Mike at the Reelfoot show one year but he recently passed away. The tube call has great volume when blown for Turkeys and has very realistic yelps does great purrs and you can really get a great fighting purr going on it too!  :2:
