A few days ago I posted on THO asking for some help and ideas on how to add accent rings of different materials at the mouth end of my whistles. Got a lot of good tips, as well as some very valuable help from Robert Azbell (the master of accent ends on calls) over the phone. My buddy Stump also gave me a little guidance on the phone. Without the help of friends on this forum, special projects like this would be a heck of a lot more complex. It is good to be able to learn from the mistakes and experiences of others by them sharing here!!!
The first one I tried was a nightmare, but it came out good enough. It has its flaws (but you can't see them in the picture
) I did some of my best cursing while making this one. Arizona desert ironwood and ivory acrylic with an oil finish:
The second one is for a return customer of mine that urged me to try this. He ordered a call from Stump in stabilized black ash burl and ivory acrylic, and wanted a matching whistle. I changed up my methods on this one, followed more of the advice I was given and it went perfectly. I think they're going to be a nice pair!
