Couple entries of mine....2013 NWTF
« on: February 14, 2013, 08:58:05 AM »
Here's a match set...Morels out of Elk, Whitetail and Moose. ones a mallard call ones a whistle.

Here's my two dimensional.....all hand drawn and woodburnt. English walnut, holly, crotch maple, hedge toneboard.

Heres a second match set...That box of shells we all have, the variety pack. Shells made from various woods. Shells all have solid brass toneboards. The Box is carved from a single block of cherry, I designed and lasered the artwork with exception of the ducks they were all done by hand with my cub burner

Alot of midnight oil burnt...but it was fun seeing them come together, Ron

Love em Ron. Glad you did some more shroom calls. In hand they look edible. That shell set is unreal with the details. Your thinking in the box. Lol . Always a nice burnt call along. Caine wait to see in person.

Ron, you are one creative sucker!  I really enjoyed the phone call the other night. I appreciate it!

You and Brian are going to make my carving tools work hard this year!

When I grow up, I want to be just like Ron.  Incredibly talented is an understatement.  Incredibly gifted with creative talent is close, but I don't think we have scratched the surface for what Ron can do.  The man has got mad skillz.  I was lucky enough to see these calls in person as they progressed in the making.  And all I can say is WOW.  What true artwork!

They look amazing.

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Ron, there are no words for that.  None!  What a magnificent looking piece of art on that matched set of shells.  In the pic of the three shells showing the toneboards, is the middle one a wood duck call?
