Project Old's Cool
« on: March 14, 2008, 06:54:27 PM »
I just finished this one as a trade call for a guy on the CCO fourm. The barrel is a bandless cherry with burnt rings and was concieved after looking through some of the old Glen Scobey calls listed on a collector's web page. The Insert is turned from ziricote and is one of my single reed timber inserts.

 Best to all,

 Bob

That's a a pretty call.  I really like the traditional clean classic look in calls and that one has it.  I like the design of the insert too.  Very classy, just enough detail to make it stand out but not make it look like a wood turner gone nuts with a skew :)

You weren't looking at the Bennett collection were you?  Lots of nice calls on his site.

Guilty as charged ;D I love James's collection. Lots of nice calls in there. I tried three different woods before the cherry, but it just had the right look for the call. Thanks for the comments Al.

Great looking call Bob! I played around with a couple of old school designs this weekend. They are a lot easier to do the ca finish without worrying about the band. Shawn

Very cool. I like the style and simplicity of that call.

Could you post a link to the page with all his calls on it. I'd like to check it out.

Thanks Guys, the complements mean alot. I try to keep things simple and direct, and learn from all of the guys who have been doing this since the ducks were plentiful. I'm going to post a few calls up for trades here in a while, and I'd love to see some of the stuff you guys are doing.
