:D  If it makes it any better John, one of them is a button buck that a young man.....I think 7 years old.....took.  All the rest are antlered.   :D

Bucks are SUCKERS for grunt tubes.  Folks just have to have the confidence to use them often enough to let them do their magic.

I never had any luck with my plastic one. I'm going back to rattling antlers.  ;D

Our deer season is over well before the rut starts so the grunts don't work out here. Nobody even knows what they are. I had a couple at a local sporting goods shop, where I have some predator and turkey calls on consignment. He didn't even know what they were. Thought they were some kind of elk call. Didn't understand why I had dropped them off, since we don't have elk.  ???

Yeah, I remember those days, Deer seaon started round the middle of Sept and was just about done with come Columbus Day. Bra, you MIGHT be able to put a few calls in PV Ranch over in Marysville. They USED to carry that stuff. I'll bet preditor calls would go over well there if you can get them in there.

That would be a great place, but, unfortunately, they have been gone for 20 years.  :o

;D  Had an archery kill in MO tonight!  Deer responded to the call like it was fight time!  Closed the gap to 10 yards very quickly, almost too quickly.

Its Iowa shotgun season right now, and I've got a couple folks up there with calls in hand, so I hope they are doing well.

  Had a couple report in from IA with good news!  One of my buddies drove down from there to surprise me with his visit and his buck!

We're sitting on 49 right now!  50 sure would be a nice, even number!

 That sure is alot of deer Parker but I think 49 or 51 sounds better. 50 is just too even.

:up1:  Well......it happened today John (1/4/09 actually).  Counting these last 15 days of January as the 2008 season, the 51st buck was grunted to and stopped for the shot during the MO late youth season.  The young man's first deer!

The MO archery season will end 1/2 hour after sunset on January 15th.

My step son had the 50th during a managed youth hunt just before Christmas.   :up1:  I got to personally stop that one in his tracks so he could squeeze off the shot.   :up1:  I was using his mother's pink colorwood grunter!

My son's buck......his biggest by far.  It was SUPER cold this evening.....windchills hovering at 0 degrees.

For some reason......he didn't mind holding up a PINK call for the picture!  HAHAHA!

The deer poked its head out of the woods, and began trotting across the bean field.  I grabbed my grunter around my neck, and stopped him good and broadside for the perfect shot.

He dropped the deer in its tracks at 120 yards with a youth .243 Savage.  The mud and ice was frozen to the rack from him spinning on the ground after he fell.

I'd hold up a pink call too if I shot that beast. Sounds like a great time for the both of you. Congrats.

 :up1:  Note to self......next time I make a call for John.....make it pink.   :up1:

I sent out the message that the time is coming near for the photos to head in for the poster to be made, and one more came out of the wood work.  Maybe there will be a couple more by the end of season.
