money!
« on: November 12, 2012, 01:53:16 AM »
I've always wanted to try one of those money blanks so I finally got the chance.  It was a little brittle to turn but not bad.  Wet sanding it was a trip, because the paper in the blank seemed to drag the sandpaper down, which made it feel like bumps and ridges that weren't really there.

I'm thinking this stuff would look awesome as mouthpiece, exhaust and band sections on a clear acrylic call.  Someday when I get a free day...

That's awesome! A real conversation piece... and it looks camo from a distance! Do the pieces of paper show through? If they do (although it would be a PAIN) you could put a CA finish over and make it more glassy looking. Not sure how CA reacts to acrylic though. ~Andre'

When I turn currency like this I dry sand through 600 and then apply a couple coats of medium CA and wet sand through all my micro mesh pads.

Love the whistle Aaron beautifully done!!

Very cool!  Where did you get the blank? I see Rockler sells pen blanks, does anyone have call sized blanks?
