Forest fire redwood
« on: September 14, 2012, 12:08:42 AM »
A fellow call maker sent this to me to make him a whistle.  It is redwood burl that went through a forest fire.  It was like drilling through hardened maple syrup and was a real nightmare to turn, but what a privilege to get a chance to turn something like that, especially from another call maker.

That is truly beautiful.
Vegetarian - that's an old Indian word meaning "lousy hunter”

If I'm not arguing with you, then you are right.

Yet another great looking piece.

Between this one and the buckeye burl whistle you've shared with us, I'm feeling motivated to start searching out some better pieces of timber.
