You can never go wrong with cocobolo

This one is cocobolo with a black acrylic insert I put a low gloss oil on it

I did use some bought inserts when i started out but I started making my own inserts and I am very happy I did

I know this is probably why, but I just started making calls. I made an insert on my own, looking at one for reference that I bought from Walmart, and it looks pretty good. I'll put the picture on later, but I cannot get the toneboard to sound at all. Any tips or pointers for when I make my own two pieced calls with inserts I make?
